For sole proprietorships, self-employed persons, startups, SMEs, limited liability companies, private limited compa-nies, associations and foundations based in Switzerland that primarily process their payment transactions in CHF.

A private account is intended for the personal finances of private individuals. With a business account, you have access to company-specific services such as e-invoice, QR-bill and online shop payment solutions, and you can manage authorizations for employees. Even as a sole proprietorship, you have to manage both accounts separately – a private account cannot be used as a business account.
-
A business account isn’t required by law, but it’s advisable in practice because a separate business account clearly separates private and business payments, simplifies accounting and makes it easier to provide evidence of business expenses in the event of a tax audit.
-
All companies based in Switzerland can open a business account – regardless of their legal form or size. This ap-plies to sole proprietorships, limited liability companies, private limited companies, associations and foundations, for example. As a private individual without company status, you cannot open a business account.
