What should you have to hand?

  1. Your passport or identity card (original)
  2. Your smartphone for verifying your identity
  3. If you’re not a Swiss citizen, you will need your Swiss residence permit or permanent residence permit

Questions and answers

  • If you open your banking package including account digitally during office opening hours, you can access your e-finance within 10 minutes.

    If you open your banking package including account at a Swiss Post or PostFinance branch, it may take several days for you to receive your e-finance access details by post.

    In both cases, you will receive your PostFinance Card and any credit card by post within a few days. 

  • Open your banking package including account at a Swiss Post or PostFinance branch if: 

    • you are not resident in Switzerland
    • you are liable for taxation abroad
    • for partner accounts: the account should be in the name of two holders
    • you do not have a smartphone or a Swiss phone number
