Would you like to open a banking package, an account or another type of product? You can get started easily here – quickly, securely, and in most cases completely online.

Questions and answers

  • It usually only takes a few minutes to open an account online, and you can use your account with online banking right away. You will receive your PostFinance Card and credit card by post within a few days.

    If you open a new account at a Swiss Post or PostFinance branch, it may take several days before you receive the opening documents, access to online banking and your card(s) by post.

    • Your passport or identity card (no copies)
    • Your smartphone for the identity check (only when opening an account online)
    • If you are not a Swiss citizen, you will also need your residence permit or permanent residence permit

  • In some cases, it is currently only possible for new customers to open an account in a Swiss Post or PostFinance branch, such as in the following cases:

    • Not resident in Switzerland
    • Liability for taxation abroad
    • Partner accounts: the account should be in the name of two account holders
    • No smartphone available for opening or no Swiss telephone number
