On its path to greater sustainability, PostFinance is giving a platform to employees who want to do their bit to increase sustainability with their own ideas. The Impact Days are one example of this. In previous years, employees set their own challenges themselves. This year, there were three specific tasks from the organization to choose from. In teams, the participants worked on their own solutions that contribute directly to PostFinance’s sustainability goals.

Three challenges, lots of ideas: the 2026 Impact Days in action
19.10.2026
Do today what works tomorrow: at PostFinance’s Impact Days, employees from different departments come up with ideas together to improve sustainability. This blog post describes what went on at this year’s workshops and what motivates the participants.
How we’re tackling it: PostFinance’s sustainability strategy
Sustainability is firmly embedded in PostFinance’s strategy. Our focus is on five key topics and other sustainability issues cutting across these topics that will impact our company’s business activities.
- Climate: to cut emissions
- Environment: to protect the basis of existence
- Diversity, equity and inclusion: to treat our employees equally and to ensure a diverse talent base that reflects the diversity of our customers
- Knowledge development and education: to further train our employees and strengthen financial literacy in society
- Transparency and digital ethics: to communicate transparently and protect customer data
Two days, three challenges
The Impact Days were held for the fourth time in September 2026. “Participants were able to decide in advance which challenge they wanted to take part in. During the two days, they received input from mentors and internal experts from various units,” explains Michel Johner, Sustainability Manager at PostFinance.
The following three challenges were available to choose from:
- Act4Impact: Designing a corporate volunteering programme for PostFinance
- ImpactFinder: Identifying, supporting and improving the visibility of impact start-ups
- InvestQuest: Developing a game that inspires young adults to invest
In order to develop initial solutions, the teams worked using the design thinking method. At the SpeedUp PostParc Bern, participants learned how to apply the individual steps directly in practice. Regula Lenz from Minova Projects was responsible for designing the event and provided the necessary expertise. She’s supported the Impact Days since they were first held in 2022.
Three minutes to convince the Impact Board
After two days full of ideas, concepts and prototypes, the teams presented their solutions to the Impact Board. The decision-making committee consisted of the three Challenge Owners Christian Mähr, Mathias Strazza and Philipp Merkt, as well as Stefanie Haag from HR Steering. The teams summed up their ideas in three-minute pitches. They chose creative forms of presentation and then tackled the critical questions posed by the Impact Board.
“Getting to grips with a new topic in depth and developing a tangible solution in a short space of time isn’t easy. Then presenting it convincingly is yet another challenge,” says Michel Johner. “I’m impressed by the work of all the teams.”
From idea to implementation
Once the workshop’s over, the work goes on. The teams hand over their solution drafts to the challenge owners and, in turn, back to the respective specialist units. The sustainability team continues to accompany the process and coordinates the work between teams, mentors and challenge owners. That way, the ideas developed become tangible next steps.
