  • A travel eSIM is an eSIM data package designed for travel. PostFinance arranges the sale; the actual purchase takes place via the web store of eSIM Copilot, a brand from our partner Mindszi Technologies Ltd., which is the provider of the eSIM

  • An eSIM is a digital SIM card that you use in addition to your current SIM card in your smartphone. When travelling abroad, you can easily activate your own data package without replacing your existing SIM card or inserting a new physical card.

  • So that you can use mobile data abroad immediately, without having to cover roaming fees or purchase a new SIM card.

  • Yes. The travel eSIM is purely a data package. Your existing phone number and WhatsApp will continue to work as normal using your current SIM card. You install a one-time travel eSIM and top up with as many data packages as you like for your travels.

  • There are data packages for individual countries, for regions (e.g. Europe, North America, Asia) and worldwide packages with coverage in 145+ countries. All you need is a single eSIM: if you’re travelling to a different country or region, simply add the right data package onto the same eSIM.

  • Once you have made your purchase, the eSIM installation opens on your smartphone with just a tap. Once you confirm the installation, the data package is activated and ready for use within a few minutes. If you have made the purchase on a device other than the one on which you would like to use the eSIM (e.g. purchased on a computer, installed on a smartphone), you will receive a QR code instead, which you can scan with your smartphone.

  • Our chat support for travel eSIMs, operated by eSIM Copilot, is available at any time to help you with the installation process. If this doesn’t work, you will receive a free replacement eSIM and be connected to a human.

  • For Apple devices, all models from the iPhone XS/XR (2018) and later, including iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). For Android devices, including Samsung Galaxy from S20, Google Pixel from Pixel 3 and many other models from around 2019/2020. The app shows you whether your specific device is compatible before you make your purchase.

  • Most compatible devices can store several eSIM profiles (often up to 8), but only one eSIM can generally be actively used at a time (in some newer models, two can be used at the same time). You can find out how many profiles your device can actively use from the information provided by your manufacturer.

  • You can top up your eSIM with a new data package at any time.

  • Data packages are available from as little as CHF 1.95. The exact price depends heavily on the destination, amount of data and the length of time you need it for, and is displayed to you transparently before the purchase.

  • The purchase and operation of the eSIM is carried out via our partner Mindszi Technologies Ltd. under the eSIM Copilot brand, which is also responsible for all technical content, information and network operation. The current privacy policy of Mindszi Technologies Ltd. can be found on the eSIM Copilot website. PostFinance only analyses anonymized data to evaluate the success of the project and does not process any personal usage data concerning the eSIM itself. PostFinance does not provide any technical mobile phone advice. Our role is to provide you with convenient access to the service via the app and to support you with general questions about your account.
