2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship: PostFinance as official partner

When the world’s best ice hockey nations compete to become world champion in Zurich and Fribourg in May 2026, PostFinance will be there as official partner of the 2026 IIHF World Championship. For PostFinance, this is another highlight of its sponsorship commitment, which has shaped Swiss ice hockey for almost a quarter of a century.

From 15 to 31 May, the world’s best national ice hockey teams will convene in Zurich and Fribourg – a sporting event that rarely takes place in Switzerland and will be held in the very year of the 25th anniversary of PostFinance’s commitment to ice hockey. As official partner of the 2026 IIHF World Championship, PostFinance is using this unique opportunity to highlight its long-standing ties to Swiss ice hockey and strengthen the brand in a positively charged and inspirational environment.

The PostFinance Top Scorers in the National League have been on the hunt for points for over 20 years. They earn money for the junior class with each scorer point gained, thus supporting up-and-coming Swiss ice hockey players. Many players have grown up in Swiss ice hockey in this way with PostFinance – and some of them will be on the ice in their national jerseys at the upcoming Ice Hockey World Championship. “PostFinance and ice hockey are a growing partnership. We have been investing in this sport for 25 years because it sets Switzerland in motion and embodies values that are also important to us: commitment, team spirit and responsibility. For us, the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Switzerland is a highlight of this commitment and a great festival for all sports enthusiasts,” says Beat Röthlisberger, CEO of PostFinance.

Commitment to the fans and to Switzerland

”The 2026 IIHF World Championship complements our well-established commitment to Swiss ice hockey and offers an excellent opportunity to make our support even more visible. We look forward to working as official partner and to celebrating this special moment throughout Switzerland,” says Sarah Brunner, Co-Head of Marketing & Brand Experience and Head of Sponsoring at PostFinance. Whether in stadiums, fan zones or on its own channels: PostFinance will be present wherever ice hockey connects people.

PostFinance's ice hockey commitment

PostFinance has been committed to Swiss ice hockey for over 20 years. The key elements of PostFinance’s commitment to ice hockey are its two league partnerships, with the National League (NL) and the PostFinance Women’s League (PFWL). At the core of this league commitment is the “PostFinance Top Scorer” concept: the best scorers on each team wear a yellow helmet with flames painted on it and the Top Scorer jersey – a visible sign of the promotion of young talent, which PostFinance is supporting in particular. PostFinance also has naming rights to the PostFinance Arena in Bern and has been supporting two clubs in a targeted manner since the 2025/2026 season: SC Bern and HC Ambrì-Piotta. Both clubs have a team in both the NL and the PFWL. With this focus on club sponsorship, PostFinance aims to set an example of equity and above all to harness synergies and promote the structural and communicative strengthening of women’s teams. Club sponsorship also makes it possible to set priorities for activation, such as the “Two leagues. One passion.” campaign on 1 November 2025 at SC Bern.
