Hansruedi Köng is to step down as PostFinance CEO at the end of February 2024. For his successor, PostFinance is looking for the person who is best suited to the role, and needs more time than originally planned to do so. Until the new CEO takes up their position, Kurt Fuchs, current CFO of PostFinance, will lead the company on an interim basis.

Kurt Fuchs, 61, has been Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of PostFinance since 2011 and, in this role, has also served as Deputy CEO since 2016. Fuchs has learned about the banking sector from the ground up. He completed an apprenticeship in banking, holds an Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education in banking and has more than 30 years of experience in managerial roles at finance units within various banks. Fuchs will run PostFinance’s operational activities as interim CEO from 1 March 2024. 

Continuity in leadership

In March 2023, Hansruedi Köng announced that he would step down at the end of February 2024, after 21 years at PostFinance and 12 years as CEO. “Filling a CEO position is a big challenge for many companies. We are looking for the person who is best suited to this role, and we are giving ourselves the time we need to do so,” says Marcel Bührer, Chairman of the PostFinance Board of Directors. “With Kurt Fuchs at the helm, we will have a very experienced and well-established leader during the transition period. His knowledge of both PostFinance and the financial sector is exceptional. Alongside the Executive Board and the Board of Directors, he will ensure continuity in our leadership.” PostFinance will provide information about Hansruedi Köng’s permanent successor in the first quarter of 2024.
