To apply for a credit card, you need a PostFinance banking package with a private account in CHF. You can open an account online in just a few minutes.

  • A banking package combines everything you need for your daily banking:

    • Private account in CHF, EUR or in a foreign currency
    • Savings account in CHF or EUR
    • Debit card
    • Credit card (optional, from 18 years of age)
    • Prepaid card (optional, from 12 years of age)
    • e-finance and PostFinance App

    As part of the banking package, you can choose individual products and services to suit your requirements. You can open additional accounts at any time, free of charge.

  • For people aged at least 18 (precondition for a credit card), PostFinance offers the following banking packages:

     

    For adult individuals and couples (from 21 years of age)

    • Smart banking package for CHF 5/month
    • SmartPlus banking package for CHF 10/month

    For young people and students

    • SmartYoung banking package for CHF 0/month (up to 20 years of age)
    • SmartStudents banking package for CHF 0/month (for people in education or training up to 30 years of age)

  • Open online

    You can open your banking package online in just a few minutes, provided you meet the following preconditions:

    • You live in Switzerland and are subject to taxation there.
    • The account should be in your own name.
    • You have your smartphone to hand.

    You can start using online banking just a few minutes after opening your account. You will receive your cards by post within a few days.
     

    Open in a branch

    If you choose to open your package in a Swiss Post or PostFinance branch, the process may take several days. You will then receive your documents, access data and cards by post.
     

    Useful to know

    In both cases, you will need a valid passport or identity card. If you have a non-Swiss identity document, you will also need a residence permit or permanent residence permit.
