331,200 francs for up-and-coming Swiss ice hockey players

This year, PostFinance is supporting up-and-coming Swiss ice hockey players by contributing 331,200 francs. The 22 Top Scorers in the National League and the PostFinance Women’s League earned this sum during the 2024/25 regular season. At today’s Top Scorer Awards in Bern, the best players of the season were honoured with a symbolic check.

This afternoon, the PostFinance Top Scorers of the 2024/25 regular season received their awards at the Bierhübeli in Bern. Altogether, the 22 best scorers of the PostFinance Women’s League and the National League achieved a total of 924 scoring points, resulting in a sum of 331,200 francs, which PostFinance paid in its entirety to the junior divisions of the clubs. This sum is made up of 300 francs per scoring point in the National League and a lump sum of 150,000 francs, which is distributed equally among the eight teams in the PostFinance Women’s League.

The symbolic checks were presented by Ron Schneider, member of the Executive Board of PostFinance. “With the Top Scorer concept, we promote up-and-coming talents and get youngsters enthusiastic about the sport of ice hockey. We are proud to extend this award to the Top Scorers in the highest women’s ice hockey league and make a stand for equal opportunities in ice hockey,” said Schneider.

Duvin and Czarnik are the best scorers in their league

Estelle Duvin and Austin Czarnik accounted for 110 of the 924 points. They scored the most points in their league. French forward Duvin put on an outstanding performance with 23 goals and 31 assists in 28 games and received a check for 18,750 francs. Czarnik scored a total of 56 points in 49 matches, earning 16,800 francs for his club’s youth division.

Equal Support in Women's Ice Hockey

In the National League, PostFinance pays 300 francs for each Scorer point (goals and assists). For the women, a fixed amount of 150,000 francs will be distributed amongst the eight clubs of the PostFinance Women’s League. Last season in the highest women’s ice hockey league showed that the Top Scorers at the best teams achieved a lot more points than those of teams at the bottom of the table. Distributing the funding based on the statistics would widen rather than narrow this gap. For this reason, a fixed amount of 150,000 francs will be distributed amongst the eight clubs in the PostFinance Women’s League, which means that all Top Scorers will secure the same amount of money for “their own” junior section. This measure should contribute towards greater professionalization of women’s ice hockey in Switzerland and towards strengthening the league as a whole. The vision is to introduce the Top Scorer concept in the PostFinance Women’s League in the same way as the National League at a later date – that means payment based on points.
