Partner account in banking package

Joint account for two people

The partner account makes it easy for couples, families or two people sharing a flat to manage their finances together. With a joint account, you can keep track of your rent, purchases and holidays.

The benefits for you with the partner account

    • Open completely digitally, no branch visit required
    • Both people have their own debit card and login
    • Keep track of your finances at all times: in e-finance or in the PostFinance App
    • Set budgets by category, e.g. household or shopping

With the partner account, you can manage joint finances easily and flexibly.

  • Payments and standing orders: pay invoices, set up, change or pause standing orders – all online
  • Two cards: each person pays independently, both see the joint expenses
  • Budget and categories: budget planning with categories such as household, shopping, leisure
  • Additional accounts: open additional joint accounts free of charge
  • Reports and notifications: optional push notifications for every card payment, overviews of living costs, export of account statements
  • Individual login: each person has a separate login for the joint account. If you already have a banking package as an individual at PostFinance in addition to the joint account, you can manage it with the same login.

The partner account is available in the Smart or SmartPlus banking package. Regardless of whether you already have your own banking package, the fees for the selected Smart or SmartPlus banking package will apply to the partner account.

Questions and answers

  • A partner account – also known as a joint account, household account or account for couples – makes it easy to keep joint expenses such as rent, purchases or holidays under control. A joint account creates transparency and saves time. It is suitable for couples, families or two people sharing a flat.

  • Two people of legal age can open a partner account. It makes no difference whether they are married, unmarried, related or friends. The important thing is that both people trust each other, as both have access to the joint account.

  • The partner account is available in the Smart banking package for 5 francs per month or in the SmartPlus banking package for 10 francs per month. You can open the account in francs, euros or other foreign currencies. In the banking package, you can add other joint private and savings accounts in the desired currency free of charge.

  • The account is opened entirely digitally: one person starts and selects the banking package. The other receives a notification and continues the process – without the need to visit a branch. Alternatively, you can open the partner account at a Swiss Post or PostFinance branch.

  • Associations can open an association account. Other groups with more than two people can open a business account

  • Each person receives a separate debit card (PostFinance Card). This means that each person can make payments independently. If you opt for the SmartPlus banking package, one credit card per person is also included.

  • In e-finance and the PostFinance App, you can initiate transfers, plan budgets, set up push notifications and view joint reports. You can also make mobile payments with PostFinance TWINT, Apple Pay and Google Pay, for example.

  • A joint savings account is suitable for reserves or joint goals such as travel or larger purchases. As part of the banking package, you can open additional private and savings accounts free of charge. Alternatively, you can open a custody account together and invest in ETFs, funds or cryptocurrencies – or delegate investment decisions and asset management to PostFinance.
