Stake cryptos and receive rewards

With staking, you make your cryptocurrencies work for you: you deposit cryptocurrencies for a fixed period of time and receive regular rewards for doing so. At PostFinance, you can currently stake Ethereum (ETH) – securely in your crypto portfolio from a minimum amount of ETH 0.1.

Here’s how it works

  1. Purchase at least ETH 0.1 in your crypto portfolio via e-finance or in the PostFinance App. No crypto portfolio yet? Open it directly online

  2. Select the “Stake” function. Your chosen amount will be blocked for twelve weeks.

  3. A timer in online banking shows you when the next staking date is. You can extend the staking period once the term has expired.

  4. The rewards are automatically credited to your portfolio. These rewards are available to you immediately – you can either sell them or stake them immediately.

Staking explained in less than two minutes

To stake Ether at PostFinance, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Crypto portfolio with PostFinance
  • At least ETH 0.1
  • Willing not to sell the staked coins in the next 12 weeks

A 20% fee is charged on the rewards received for staking. The rewards are credited in Ethereum (ETH).

  • Staking rewards are payments you receive for depositing your cryptocurrency and making it available to the network. The rewards are credited in the relevant cryptocurrency.

  • The rewards come from newly created cryptocurrencies and from the transaction fees that network users pay to carry out transactions. The exact mechanisms vary depending on the blockchain.

  • Essentially any cryptocurrency that is based on the proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. With PostFinance, you can currently stake Ethereum. Other cryptocurrencies will be activated in due course.

  • The staking rewards are regularly credited to your crypto portfolio.

  • The staking rewards are displayed in the crypto asset statement. This gives you all the information you need for your tax return in one place.

  • You can stake Ethereum for 12 weeks. Once this period has expired and the unstaking process has been completed, the cryptocurrencies will be available to you again.

  • No. Staked cryptocurrencies remain blocked until the staking period has expired and the unstaking process has been completed.

  • If the rules of the Ethereum networks are violated, staked cryptocurrencies and/or staking rewards can be destroyed. There is also a risk that the market price of staked cryptocurrencies will fluctuate during the blocking period and be lower after the period has expired than before.
