PostFinance adds six more cryptocurrencies to its range

The new cryptocurrencies available at PostFinance are Algorand, Arbitrum, NEAR Protocol, Stellar, USDC and SUI. By expanding its range, PostFinance is responding to its customers’ growing needs. A total of 22 different cryptocurrencies can now be traded in e-finance or via the PostFinance App directly from a private account or savings account and stored in the crypto custody account.

The key points at a glance

  • PostFinance is adding six more cryptocurrencies to its crypto range with immediate effect: Algorand, Arbitrum, NEAR Protocol, Stellar, USDC and SUI.
  • Customers have regulated access to a total of 22 cryptocurrencies.
  • By offering this expanded range, PostFinance is responding to the growing needs of its customers, who have opened over 36,000 crypto portfolios and processed more than 565,000 trades since the service was launched.

More crypto for everyone

From today, a total of 22 cryptocurrencies are available to PostFinance customers. The newly added cryptocurrencies are Algorand (ALGO), Arbitrum (ARB), NEAR Protocol (NEAR), Stellar (XLM), USDC and SUI. PostFinance became the first systemically important bank to offer its customers direct access to cryptocurrencies at the beginning of 2024. Five additional cryptocurrencies were added to the range in July 2024. Thanks to its extensive range, PostFinance covers a wide selection of the most popular cryptocurrencies and stands out clearly from the competition among retail banks.

Growing demand for digital assets

“Our customers want to trade cryptocurrencies with their trustworthy principal bank. We let them do exactly that, and we are consistently working on expanding our range even more,” says Dr Alexander Thoma, Head of Digital Assets.
There has been significant, steady growth in customer interest since the service was introduced. Since its launch, more than 36,000 crypto custody accounts have been opened and more than 565,000 trades have been processed.

Simple and secure one-stop access

PostFinance offers its customers regulated access to cryptocurrencies directly through their bank. The central all-in-one service makes it possible to trade digital assets securely and conveniently from a single source – anytime and anywhere in e-finance or in the PostFinance App, from a private or savings account. Easy access and the low entry threshold of 50 US dollars for crypto saving plans and individual orders make this service particularly accessible and help democratize the crypto market.

Continuous development of the range

PostFinance will continue to focus on innovation in the field of digital assets in the future. Other changes to the crypto range are already planned: “One of the things we’re working on is offering cryptocurrencies to our corporate customers and rolling out staking for other currencies,” says Alexander Thoma.

In the spring of 2024, PostFinance was the first systemically important bank in Switzerland to bring crypto trading directly to its customers. Five additional digital currencies were added to the crypto range on 1 July 2024. Since then, it has been possible to trade and store Bitcoin, Ethereum, Aave, Cosmos, Bitcoin Cash, Compound, Chainlink, Litecoin, Polygon, Uniswap, Tezos, Avalanche, Cardano, Polkadot, Ripple and Solana. The “Ethereum staking” function was added in early 2025, allowing customers to contribute directly to the security and functioning of the respective blockchain and receive rewards in the process.
