Logging in with the PostFinance App

In order to use the PostFinance App for e-finance and e-trading, you must first activate your login. You can activate your login with your PostFinance Card and an SMS code, or with the activation QR code.

If you are registering for the first time, or you already use a smartphone with the PostFinance App, or you would like to reactivate it on a new smartphone, follow the relevant instructions.

Activate your login with the PostFinance Card and an SMS code

Once you have installed the PostFinance App, you can activate your login with your PostFinance Card and an SMS code. To do this, you will need your e-finance login details (password and e-finance number / user name), your PostFinance Card and your smartphone number. 

How to proceed

  1. Install the new PostFinance App
  2. Open the PostFinance App and start with login set-up
  3. On the “Set up with QR code” page, select “Other option”
  4. Start on the page “Set up with your mobile phone number and PostFinance Card” by tapping on “Yes, my card is ready”
  5. Enter your e-finance login details (e-finance number / user name and your e-finance password) and follow the instructions in the app

Your smartphone number must be stored in e-finance

Remember that your smartphone number must be stored in e-finance so that you can activate your login with the PostFinance Card. You can find your smartphone number under settings > My data > Contact details.

If your smartphone number is not saved, you can order a new activation QR code here. 

Obtain QR code from a branch

Visit one of our PostFinance or Swiss Post branches and receive your personal activation QR code directly then and there. Please bring valid proof of identity with you.

Activate login with the QR code

Once you have installed the PostFinance App, you can activate your login with your personal QR code. To do this, you will need your activation letter with the QR code.

How to proceed

  1. Install the new PostFinance App
  2. Open the PostFinance App and start with login set-up
  3. Select “I have a QR code” and follow the instructions in the app

Questions on logging in with the PostFinance App

  • Download the app in the App Store or Play Store on your new smartphone. Do not transfer the app with SmartSwitch. If you do so, push notifications will continue to be sent to your old smartphone.

  • Make sure you use the QR activation code in the activation letter and that you have Internet access.

    The QR activation code is valid only for the period stated in the letter. What’s more, the activation code can only be used once. If the activation process resulted in an error or was aborted by you, you will need to order a new QR activation code.

  • The app can be used on several devices. However, the biometric login feature (Face ID and fingerprint identification) will work on only one device. Alternatively, you can use a different login method on your other devices (e.g. Mobile ID or a card reader).

  • For security reasons. After several failed login attempts, login via app is locked. As a precaution, you can restart your phone and try again. If your smartphone is still locked, the app can be unlocked only by calling our hotline.
