Press Release

PostFinance opens up its crypto service to corporate customers and private customers with a partner account

From May 2026, PostFinance is enabling corporate customers as well as private customers with a joint partner account to trade, store and stake cryptocurrencies. This will allow companies to diversify their investment portfolio in a targeted manner – directly via the usual banking infrastructure in e-finance or in the PostFinance App.

The key points at a glance

  • From May 2026, corporate customers will also be able to trade 22 cryptocurrencies and stake Ethereum directly with PostFinance via e-finance or in the PostFinance App.
  • Private customers with a joint partner account can now open a crypto portfolio, invest in cryptocurrencies and use staking.
  • As a systemically important Swiss bank, PostFinance is one of the first retail banks to provide business customers with fully digital access to cryptocurrencies.

Many companies are still watching cryptocurrencies from the sidelines. According to an internal analysis by PostFinance, only 14 percent of the Swiss companies surveyed had gained any practical experience with digital assets. At the same time, interest is growing: more and more companies are looking for ways to diversify their investment portfolio with cryptocurrencies or to integrate digital assets into payment processes. “We’ve noticed that more and more Swiss companies are looking at cryptocurrencies as a payment method, for international transactions or as a strategic diversification in their investment portfolio. To do so, companies need a user-friendly wallet infrastructure. We want to meet this need,” says Felicia Kölliker, Head of Corporate Customers at PostFinance.

Security and trust as the foundation

As a systemically important Swiss bank, PostFinance meets the highest security, regulatory and audit standards for its crypto service. The cryptocurrencies are stored securely in Switzerland. This means that PostFinance offers both corporate and private customers reliable and regulated access to the crypto market.

Around-the-clock crypto trading

The crypto service for corporate customers is “execution only” and initially corresponds to that for private customers: trading with 22 cryptocurrencies is currently possible around the clock directly in e-finance or in the PostFinance App. Ethereum staking is also available, allowing companies to generate passive income on a regular basis. ”The service is open to companies and institutions in Switzerland that wish to trade, store and stake cryptocurrencies independently. Institutional corporate customers, such as financial institutions, insurance companies, administrations, pension funds and corporations, have a particularly high need,” says Alexander Thoma, Head of Digital Assets at PostFinance. ”These corporate customers already manage their finances professionally and expect the same standard for digital assets. In future. we’ll expand our service in this direction accordingly.”

Jointly invest in cryptocurrencies – now also for partner accounts

Until now, the crypto service was only available to private customers with an individual customer relationship. Now, people with a joint partner account can also open a crypto portfolio and invest in cryptocurrencies together. This will give couples the opportunity to use digital assets as part of their joint financial planning for the first time at PostFinance. With a saving plan, you can invest automatically and regularly from as little as 50 US dollars.
