Social partners agree on individual salary increases of 0.8 percent

This year’s pay negotiations between Swiss Post, PostFinance, syndicom and transfair have been successfully concluded. The social partners have agreed on salary measures of 0.8 percent and will increase the minimum wage by 200 francs. The changes will be implemented with the salary payment in April 2020.

The social partners Post CH Ltd, PostFinance Ltd, the trade union syndicom and the staff association transfair have successfully come to an agreement: Post CH Ltd and PostFinance Ltd staff who are employed under the collective employment contract (CEC) will benefit from sustainable, individual salary measures amounting to 0.8 percent of the eligible salary sum. A salary increase generally depends on the salary level in the corresponding function. Swiss Post is also increasing the minimum wage by 200 francs to 50,200 francs per year. The measures will be implemented with the April salary payment.

The social partners came to an agreement during the third round of negotiations. The economic circumstances at both companies, the job market situation, comparisons with competitor companies, and the trends in living costs served as the basis for the negotiations. The salary measures for 2020 affect the 26,000 or so employees who are covered by the Post CH Ltd CEC and the 2,600 or so employees who are covered by the PostFinance Ltd CEC.

When allocating individual salary measures, the system introduced in 2018, which has an integrated obligatory part, has proved to be successful. This stipulates a salary increase for all employees covered by the CEC, excluding justified exceptional cases. The grounds for exclusion were negotiated between the social partners. The agreed system is a medium suited to the implementation of fair salary measures. Above all, employees with salaries in lower positions within their salary bracket (at Post CH Ltd) or who are on lower salaries (at PostFinance Ltd) will now have the chance to make up some of the difference on the basis of good performance.

The decision-making committees − the Board of Directors committees at Post CH Ltd and PostFinance Ltd, as well as the relevant bodies at syndicom and transfair − must still approve the outcome of the negotiations. Negotiations for PostBus Ltd staff were held separately and concluded in January 2020. Negotiations for the staff at Post Real Estate Management and Services Ltd, SecurePost Ltd, PostLogistics Ltd and Swiss Post Solutions Ltd will begin in the coming weeks.
