There are many reasons why a particular car makes someone’s heart leap but another does not. They are often emotional, such as childhood memories, the feeling of freedom or a love of the racing track. But there are of course practical arguments too, such as space, fuel consumption and price.
What’s your dream car?
Some love fast sports cars, others electric cars. Some prefer a spacious estate, others a comfortable saloon. Whatever your dream car is, don’t forget about the car insurance when you buy it. From cabriolets, estates, saloon cars and minivans to compact cars, sports cars and SUVs, the choice is huge. Five people told us what their dream car is and why.
Tanja Amsler, Schlieren
“I like the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR. It’s fast, stylish, comfortable, spacious and luxurious. I’d love to cruise through the city with my dog in one.”
Tobias Gadient, St. Moritz
“I have many dream cars. One of my great loves since my childhood is the Subaru WRX STi – the successor to the legendary rally car. It’s a no-nonsense car that is all about the enjoyment of driving.”
Conny Frank, Einsiedeln
“My favourite for years has been the Mini Cabrio. I just love this small, cheeky car. I plan to make this long-held dream of mine come true in the next few years.”
Owen McCall, Zug
“I like the sporty Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid. It gives you plenty of space and a good compromise between power and efficiency, and it has a fantastic sound system.”
Monika Keller, Hörhausen
“My dream car is the Land Rover Discovery. The big boot has space for all my dogs and the tow bar means I can transport my horses with it, too.”
Choose insurance coverage
When it comes to buying your dream car, there is one thing you must not forget: third-party liability insurance is compulsory in Switzerland. It covers damage that you cause to other people, vehicles, buildings or the environment. For more extensive cover, it is worth taking out partially comprehensive insurance, which covers damage caused by natural hazards, fire and theft and glass damage, or fully comprehensive insurance, which supplements partially comprehensive and third-party liability insurance with additional cover for collision damage. Fully comprehensive insurance is required for leased vehicles.
