Press Release

Switzerland's biggest post office opens in Berne

Switzerland’s biggest post office began operations today at the newly built PostParc at Berne Central Station. With 18 counters, the large branch offers extended opening hours and a comprehensive range of services for private and business customers. The services are supplemented by a PostFinance branch and a My Post 24 terminal. For business customers, Swiss Post is opening an additional business customer acceptance point at Kornhausplatz.

With the opening of the new post office, Swiss Post in Berne has moved closer to the city center, which is ideal for commuters and travellers. The PostParc at Berne Central Station has excellent access to transport connections and offers a comprehensive range of postal services. Among other things, Swiss Post customers benefit from extended opening hours: the post office is open non-stop from 7.30 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. The offer is rounded off with a PostFinance branch, two Postomats, a business customer counter, a P.O. Box facility and one of Switzerland’s largest My Post 24 terminals with about 150 compartments.

New range of postal services in Berne city center

Swiss Post’s access points in Berne city center have now been reorganized: the temporary premises of the former Schanzenpost in Effingerstrasse and the post office on Bärenplatz have been integrated into the PostParc along with the two P.O. Box facilities. After more than a year at its temporary premises in Belpstrasse, PostFinance is also moving to the PostParc. From Monday to Saturday, 15 employees are on hand to assist customers with short consultations or comprehensive financial advice on payments, savings, investments, retirement planning and financing. PostFinance also provides advice on its numerous e-services such as e-finance, e-payment and PostFinance Mobile.

In conjunction with the Peter Gaffuri AG Graphics Center Berne, Swiss Post now also operates an additional business customer acceptance point for SMEs and city center businesses at Kornhausplatz 7 (at the premises of Peter Gaffuri AG). These changes will not affect the current post office in Kramgasse, the second PostFinance branch in Berne on Bärenplatz or the Postomats located there.

PostParc – the new urban center at Berne Central Station

Swiss Post has invested around 300 million francs in the new PostParc urban business center located at Berne Central Station. November 2011 saw the ground-breaking ceremony for today’s site, featuring three buildings and about 40,000m2 of service and office space. The PostParc complex is owned by PostFinance Ltd.
