PostFinance Top Scorer: 345 400 francs for ice hockey juniors

Payday for Swiss junior ice hockey: The 24 PostFinance Top Scorers in the National Leagues A and B have earned 172 700 francs for their clubs’ junior teams during the 2016/2017 qualification round. This year PostFinance has once again doubled this sum and is committing the same amount to the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation to support national junior ice hockey teams. PostFinance will therefore be supporting the Swiss National League clubs' ice hockey juniors and the national team with a total of 345 400 francs this year.

The symbolic presentation of the cheque to the top scorer of the NL A clubs took place this afternoon in Depot B in Berne. Since the 2002/03 season, the PostFinance Top Scorers have been earning money with their goals and assists for Swiss ice hockey juniors: Every goal and every assist is worth 200 francs in the NL A, and 100 francs in the NL B. At the end of the competition, the points scored are converted into cash. The money earned goes to the junior divisions of the relevant clubs.

Mark Arcobello is the National League A Top Scorer

Mark Arcobello of reigning champions, SC Bern, amassed 25 goals and 30 assists during the 50 qualification matches, making him the NL A Top Scorer. In second place is Julien Sprunger of Fribourg-Gottéron with a total of 51 points (26 goals, 25 assists). The ZSC Lions attacker Robert Nilsson, who scored 14 goals and made 37 assists came in third. In Mark Arcobello, the league's Top Scorer has come from the ranks of SCB for the first time since the 2006/2007 season.

Almost five million francs raised for Swiss junior ice hockey

The twelve Top Scorers of the NL A together earned a total of 107 600 francs, and those in the NL B 65 100 francs. As it does every year, PostFinance has doubled this sum and donated it to Swiss national junior ice hockey teams. All in all, the financial institution invested 345 400 francs in the future of Swiss ice hockey in the 2016/2017 season.

The next generation is important to PostFinance. The PostFinance Top Scorer initiative has already invested almost five million francs in junior ice hockey. Since 2008, PostFinance has also organized the PostFinance Trophy – the national schools' tournament.
