Press Release

PostFinance will be updating its banking software over the 2018 Easter weekend

PostFinance will be updating its banking software over the 2018 Easter weekend (29 March-2 April 2018). Some services will therefore be unavailable or only available on a restricted basis for 2.9 million customers during this period. The market leader in Swiss payment transactions is laying the foundations for further digitization of its business through this migration.

Switzerland is holding its ground as an attractive environment and location for future-oriented business and research – this is the goal of the Federal Office of Communications’ “Digital Switzerland” strategy. PostFinance is also investing in its performance and innovation capacity and is therefore updating its banking software over Easter weekend 2018. The financial service provider is laying the foundations to enable its customers to benefit from modern digital products and services more quickly in future. PostFinance aims to be Switzerland’s leading digital bank and one of the top 10 digital banks in Europe by 2020.

Meticulous preparations for “open-heart surgery”

The changeover to the new banking software is comparable with open-heart surgery. Some 400 employees involved in the go-live weekend will perform over 3,000 changeover tasks in total. PostFinance has therefore prepared meticulously for the introduction of the new banking software. The go-live has been simulated four times with real data and in real time frames. Thousands of PostFinance employees have tested the functional and performance capacity of the systems during several trial days in order to be ready for the launch.

Despite the best-possible preparations, individual difficulties when launching a project of this magnitude cannot be ruled out. PostFinance is prepared for such cases and will keep the impact on customers to a minimum.
