IT disruption on 3 May 2017

Statement from Hansruedi Köng

Dear customers

After experiencing disruptions to our own IT systems at the beginning of the year, yesterday you were unable to use our services for several hours as a result of network problems at Swiss Post. The disruption has since been resolved and all services are now stable again. Analyses have shown that external influences can be ruled out. Your money and data remained secure at all times.

I can understand that you feel annoyed about this new system failure. It is frustrating when you want to pay invoices and e-finance is not working. It is unpleasant when you urgently need cash and are unable to make a withdrawal from a Postomat. And it is embarrassing when you find yourself unable to pay for your purchases at a store checkout. You experienced these and other similar situations yesterday. Please accept my apologies.

I am also annoyed about disruptions. Our aim is to provide you with the most fault-free and uninterrupted access to our digital services as possible. Unfortunately this was not the case yesterday or at the beginning of the year. We do our utmost to offer you stable, reliable services – the type of services that you are accustomed to and expect from PostFinance. That is why we will continue to invest a great deal of money in the maintenance and expansion of our IT systems in the future.
