First-hand accounts – employees talk about their job

  • Marketing and communications

“The customer experience management team is a small team with representatives from all customer segments. This is our approach to ensuring proximity to our varied customers and their requirements. We are an agile team that works with all PostFinance units to enhance the customer experience – whether with customer advice, communication or HR. We advise teams, coach our colleagues and teach basic principles and methods in workshops. And when it comes to finding the best solution for our customers, we are directly involved – from customer observation and preparing prototypes to presenting solutions. The varied work, the contact with a wide variety of people, the willingness to achieve a lot in a short time, and above all the focus on the customer, are what make me so enthusiastic about my job.”

  • Processing and process management

“I head up the MIS Operations team at PostFinance, which is the team that built a management information system from the ground up. Through data transparency and the preparation of key figures and reports, the MIS provides the basis for successful management of our business. In the process of building the team and with the responsibilities involved, we were confronted with a range of instructive challenges that we were able to overcome successfully as a team. We enjoyed a great deal of creative leeway, which allowed me to develop myself and contribute beyond the core tasks.”

  • Human Resources

“For us in HR, the biggest challenges are digitization, changing values and the changing demands on the working world these involve. How do we support managers in this transformation? How can we establish new skills and communicate the shift? How can we promote agility and flexibility? I am confronted with questions like these every day. One of my roles is to lead a team of HR advisors, and in my other role as HR Business Partner, I am responsible for providing support to members of the Executive Board. Thanks to the flat hierarchy and culture of PostFinance, you really can make a difference here. Everyone in HR contributes to answering these questions and shaping the working world of the future.”

  • Finance

“I love my job – for precisely the reason that it sometimes gets a little hectic. My team and I don’t know in the morning what the markets are going to do during the day. Some days can be quiet, and some can be extremely hectic – as on 15 January 2015, when the Swiss National Bank abandoned the minimum euro exchange rate. In the current political and economic environment, the situation also remains challenging. But that’s what makes my job what it is. We overcome the daily challenges we face as a team, support and motivate each other, and are open to new ideas. And we work for an employer who allows us to use our discretion and assume responsibility.”

  • Legal & Compliance

“We ensure compliance with all legal requirements. What may at first sight seem boring is in fact enormously exciting and varied. Our work is about protecting PostFinance from financial and other damage and safeguarding the bank’s reputation. And we do this within a national and international regulatory framework that is changing continuously. As Head of Compliance, I try to ensure that our approach to existing and new requirements is as efficient and effective as possible. In addition, the advancement of my employees is very important to me. I want to give them the opportunity to get ahead – just as it was given to me.”
